Well, I say it all the time... Life is flying by, and I can't believe Olivia is two months adjusted and almost six months old! As fast as it seems to be going, I truly feel like I soak up each and every moment of every day. She is an amazing little girl and I'm so thankful to get to stay home with her. I feel like all that we've lost made me that much more aware of how special our time with Olivia is. I tell Reid all the time, she's only, for example, "48 weeks old once..." ;) So, we take advantage of rocking her a little longer than we need to and snuggling her while she sleeps even though the books say its a no-no. I don't want to have any regrets.
We have been having so much fun with our sweet girl. She is starting to interact with us more and more. Recently, she started responding to being tickled. Melt. My. Heart. She's making a few vowel sounds and I think full-on cooing is just around the corner. She will crane her neck to find me or Reid in the room when she hears us talking. She is still scooting all over her crib, rolling from tummy to back, holding her head up really well, and trying desperately to roll from back to tummy. There are a lot of times when I turn on the monitor to check on her in her crib and can't help but wonder if maybe she already did roll from back to tummy based on the crazy position she's in. In any case, we haven't witnessed it if she has done it.
Olivia had a check up two weeks ago and weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces. We had another little check-up today and she weighs 8 pounds, 15.6 ounces (we count that as 9 pounds!). It is crazy to think she weighs what I did at birth! She wears newborn diapers and mostly newborn size clothes. A few 0-3 month outfits fit her.
Olivia is still a great eater. She takes two bottles of Neosure (a high calorie formula) a day. Breastfeeding is going really well. We started using a shield in the NICU, but two weeks ago (at 6 weeks adjusted) she completely weaned herself off of it. It has made a world of difference for both of us. When I first started breastfeeding I hated it. It didn't feel natural, it was awkward hiding behind a screen in the NICU, and a nurse or lactation consultant were always peeking in to make sure it was going ok. It took us a few weeks at home before it really became comfortable. And, now, I'm SO glad I stuck with it - really, I can't imagine it any other way!
At 6 weeks adjusted we got the OK from the doctor to let Olivia sleep through the night. We put her to bed between 8:00-9:00 pm and she falls asleep pretty easily on her own. She sleeps between 9-11 hours a night! Such a dream! :) She loves her crib at bedtime but not so much for naps. We'll start working on that in the next few weeks.
Here's a little peek at what life has looked like the last couple of weeks!

So happy to hear about breastfeeding success! I'm confident she is doing so well because of your commitment to breastfeed her. Mama's milk is best! Love that sweet face.
