Reflecting on Easter

picture Last Sunday at church our pastor challenged us to spend time this week preparing our hearts for the Celebration that was coming on Easter Sunday. I've been thinking a lot about part of a post I wrote a few years ago when my mom was in the hospital. "Though this week has been hard, it has brought some perspective for me. I was reminded by John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God loved the sinner so much that He sent His own Son to die for our sins. I never understood the painful sacrifice that God and Jesus made when they decided that was the only payment able to be made for the sin of the world. I watch my mom, try to comfort her, imagine her thoughts, her fears. God did the very same thing during His Son's last few days as part of this world.
