A Bit of Little Rock

I was able to spend a week in Little Rock last week and it was wonderful! George came to see Mom with me one day. He stayed awhile and tried to keep her awake while I waited to feed her dinner. She was so sleepy that he put her right to sleep tickling her arm. Its her favorite - especially when George does it. Friday night my dad and I went out to see her before bedtime and she was the most alert I had seen her all week. She was "talking" up a storm when we walked in and she didn't stop until we tucked her into bed. What she says usually doesn't make much sense, but she was just laughing and smiling at everything my dad was saying. She also told my dad she loved him. It was a fun night and I'm so glad I was there for it.

French Update

Well, I went into the final exam and essay with an average of 88. let me just say that describing my emotional state as "nervous" would he an understatement. To make matters worse, we wouldn't find out our grades on those last two assignments or our final class grades for over a week! I've had moments of sheer terror seeing myself applying for summer school. French again would not be OK. So, Tuesday I checked my email thinking there wasn't supposed to be any news until Thursday. Low and behold... I made a 90 on the essay and a 97 on the final (might be my highest test grade ever!) which puts my final grade for French at an "A". Yay! I took that victory as an opportunity to treat myself to mozzerella sticks at Sonic that afternoon. Because, really, what's a better reward than fried cheese served in a cardboard container? And, last but not least, Reid, thank you for ALWAYS being my biggest fan! And for your willingness to pay an "arm and a leg...

Happy Mother's Day to our beautiful Mama! I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. ~Abraham Lincoln

Before and After

Reid has been on vacation between cases this week and instead of going somewhere we decided to be good home owners and tackle a few projects around the house. It also helped that his parents were going to be coming through Dallas this week and decided to stay for a few days to offer their help. We are so grateful for all they helped us do in such a short amount of time! We would NEVER have accomplished as much as we did without them! Thank you Denny and Debra for working so hard while you were here visiting us! Our main project was taking out the random/ unsightly/ broken/ koi pond in the middle of the backyard. The pump wasn't working and it was already starting to attract bugs. Yuck! Poor Reid spent an entire day knocking out the stones with a sledge hammer. But, that part was done in a day, and filled in with dirt by Saturday evening. We also landscaped the flower bed, pulled up money grass and some other huge iris-like plants, and laid sod. The entire project took about four da...
